- Description
- The proposed effort shall cover the procurement of systems and system components so as to provide Television-Direct To Sailors (TV-DTS) systems (military designation OE- 556/U and OE-556A/U, single- and dual-antenna configurations respectively) comprising the same equipment configurations that are currently installed in ships of the U.S. Navy. The TV-DTS system currently enables receipt of the American Forces Radio and Television Service (AFRTS) broadcast over leased C-Band global satellite transponders as part of the requirement to provide television, radio, and data services to Sailors and Marines assigned to U.S. Navy ships on a 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week basis. The service is specifically intended to improve the Sailors??? and Marines??? situational awareness and quality of life by providing shipboard access to real-time news, sports, and entertainment programming.
