Description
Project Description A. Purpose and Background: Existing military style bunks have exceeded their life-cycle and need to be replaced to meet efforts to modernize various aspects of the facility. The design, construction, and functionality are key aspects to assuring that new military grade bunks will meet personnel use and contingency requirements. An optional accessories panel is included as part of this Statement of Objectives. Naval ship style berthing bunks will not be acceptable for this Statement of Objectives. Due to security sensitivities, the number of bunks acquisitioned under this task order shall be considered Controlled Unclassified Information, hence will require strict adherence to security control measures. B. Summary of Requirements: The bunks shall meet the following requirements and specifications: 1. The bunk assembly shall be constructed with heavy duty metal. Posts shall be of square seam tubing. There shall be no exposed raw metal edges. 2. Each bed will have a vertical space of 28 inches minimum between the top of the bottom bed frame and the bottom of the next higher bed frame. 3. The bottom of the lowest bed frame will be a minimum of 5 inches and a maximum of 7 inches from the floor. 4. Each bed frame base will not be solid, but a mesh type configuration. 5. Each bed will have a minimum load capacity of 375 pounds. 6. Each bed frame will be sized to accept a 75� long x 38� wide x 6� thick mattress. 7. Safety rails will be required for bunks assembled as a double or triple tier configuration. 8. Attachable ladders are required for the second and third tier. Two attachable ladders to the long side of the bed. One individual ladder attachable to the second tier bed and one individual ladder attachable to the third tier bed. Ladders will be mounted on the left and right side of the bunk. 9. Each ladder shall have a minimum weight limit of 375 pounds. 10.
