Description
THIS IS A SPECIAL NOTICE FOR SITE ACCESS FOR AN UPCOMING PROJECT.� PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS ARE NOT AVAILABLE CA ERFO KLAMATH NF 17N11(1) UPPER DOOLITTLE & MILL CREEK BRIDGES - Site Access Monday November 1, 2021 thru Thursday November 4, 2021 At the project sites, links below: Doolittle Bridge:� https://goo.gl/maps/CbQ723qb57wTJSMA7 Mill Bridge:� https://goo.gl/maps/Xdw8Wky1eVGX3Bvr7 Objective:� To provide interested bidders with project information and access to the project site prior to the winter weather conditions. Questions and Answers:� NO QUESTIONS will be answered during the�site-visits.�� All questions arising from the contractor site-visits must be submitted in writing to CFLContracts@dot.gov and will be answered on via SAM.GOV.�� Please note the project is still under development, so their may be questions that cannot be ansered until Advertisement. Defer those questions to the formal solicitation phase of the project. Preliminary drawings are attached for information purposes; please note that these are not the final plans. Project Description: This project involves replacement of both the Upper Doolittle and Mill Creek Bridges which were damaged by fire in 2020 and will be replaced with prefabricated steel bridges. The proposed bridge crossings are at the same locations as the existing bridges.� Existing bridge elements were entirely made of timber.� Any remnants post-fire has been removed and stockpiled on site. The debris will be disposed of as part of the FHWA contract.� An asphalt overlay, bridge rail and guardrail are proposed on the bridge and bridge approaches. The bridge sites are both located in Siskiyou County, California and are within 12 miles of the Oregon border. �Upper Doolittle Creek Bridge is located approximately 5.9 miles Northwest of Happy Camp on Forest Route 17N11 within Klamath National Forest. Coordinates are 41�50'6.16""N, 123�25'35.03""W. �Mill Creek Bridge is located approximately 15.3 miles Northwest of Happy Camp on Forest Route 18N15 within Klamath National Forest. Coordinates are 41�57'50.10""N, 123�27'16.07""W. � Significant items and quantities:� Project will include, but is not limited to bridge construction, embankment construction, aggregate base, asphalt paving, survey, erosion control, permanent and temporary traffic control, and revegetation.� Major quantities for include: 1,000 +/- cuyd of earthwork 2 each of removal of structures and obstructions (both bridge sites) 2 each of bridge construction (includes all bridge elements, both bridge sites) 600 +/- tons of aggregate base course 400 +/- tons of asphalt concrete pavement 500 +/- linear ft of guardrail Anticipated Construction Amount: $2.0-5.0M Construction Season:� Cold weather and snow are likely during late fall, winter, and early spring months. It is anticipated that on-site construction for this project is from May to November of 2022 and will only take one season. Anticipated Permits: California Construction General Permit for compliance with Section 402 of the Clean Water Act Clean Water Act Section 404 and 401 Temporary Traffic Control: Both Forest Routes 17N11 and 18N15 at bridge sites will remain closed during construction. Anticipated Advertisement Date:� February 2022 Anticipated Award Date: March/April��2022 Other: Construction access to both sides of the bridges is available by detours. No stream crossings or fords will be allowed. The adjacent sections of closed roadway may be used for staging and storage.
