- Description
- Brookhaven Science Associates (BSA) is� issuing a Request For Information (RFI) for Upgrade for Advanced III-V Heteroepitaxy . The Nanoscale Science Research Center Recapitalization project (NSRC-Recap) is adding new and updated capabilities to the Department of Energy�s nanoscience infrastructure . As part of this work, BSA is potentially seeking to upgrade the molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) instrument at the Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies (CINT) and Sandia National Laboratories (SNL). The MBE system facilitates atomic-level precision growth of high-purity III-V materials in an ultra-high vacuum environment. It is considered one of the fundamental tools for development of nanotechnologies. The potential upgrade to the existing MBE system includes a new electronic rack with back-up power, updated software/hardware for command, control and alarms, updated utilities, and superior vacuum pumping capacity. It also adds a new capability to the system: hydrogen cleaning of samples. This new capability, along with the other upgraded components will facilitate epitaxial growth of novel and complex heterostructures and will streamline the process to make it more effective and efficient. BSA invites you to participate in accordance with the RFI letter and all supporting attachments. This requirement has been posted on the SAM.gov website under solicitation RFI-415146.
