- 1. INTRODUCTION: This is a Sources Sought Notice (SSN). This notice is issued solely for informational and planning purposes � it does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP) or a commitment by the Government to award a contract. Responses to this notice are not considered offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. 2. DESCRIPTION: The Government is conducting market research to gather information related to the requirements outlined below. Vendors are encouraged to submit details on comparable products or solutions. This requirement specifically involves custom-designed cabinetry intended to replace the existing installations 3. REQUIREMNT: Armistice Room Characteristics The room measures 8687 mm deep by 3835 mm wide. Cabinets containing the memorial books line the east and west sides of the room with the Armistice Table located in the room�s center. Cabinetry Replacement. The vendor shall provide 8 free standing cabinets (4 along the east wall or the room and 4 along the west wall) measuring 2140 mm long, 1150 mm tall, and 50 mm deep. Removal and Disposal of Existing Furniture. The vendor shall remove existing furniture and dispose of the furniture in accordance with Korean waste disposals law. All electrical fixtures connected to the Armistice Room furnishings shall be disconnected by USFK maintenance personnel prior to being removed by vendors. Below is a list of the furniture that shall be removed. Memorial Book Cabinetry. The memorial book cabinetry is located along the east and west walls of the Armistice Room. Each cabinet forms a continuous platform that runs the full length of each wall. The cabinetry is fastened to the wall with mechanical fasteners and silicon adhesives. Low Level Display Tables. The room contains four low-level display tables in the center of the room. Each table is free-standing. Installation and Setup. The vendor shall deliver the finished cabinetry (8 cabinets in total) as part of a single delivery once construction of the cabinetry is complete. The vendor must place the cabinetry inside the Armistice Room in its final location. Cabinetry Replacement in USFK Armistice Cabinetry Specifications (Side View). The image to the right represents a side view of each cabinet. Each cabinet shall be free standing. It shall be 750 mm tall in the front and approximately 1150 mm tall in the back. The shelf at the top may be constructed as a single unit or it may be attached using metal fasteners (not nailed or stapled). The top surface of the cabinet shall be constructed at an angle from 30 to 45 degrees (Note: The height of the front side of the cabinet is fixed at 750 mm, but the height of the back may vary slightly based on the angle of the top surface). General Cabinetry Specifications (Front/Back View). The overall width of each cabinet is approximately 2140 mm and shall contain two equally sized compartments in the lower part of the cabinet for storage. Each compartment shall contain a fixed shelf that is approximately 375 mm above its base. Each compartment shall also contain cabinet doors with soft-closure hinge mechanisms. No locking mechanisms are required on the cabinet doors. Detail Specifications and Construction Materials. Front, Top, and Cabinet Doors. The front, top, and cabinet doors of each cabinet shall be constructed of solid tight grain hardwoods such as poplar, maple, mahogany, or oak with thicknesses of at least 19 mm (3/4�). Softwood products such as pine shall not be used. As an alternative, wood veneer attached to plywood with a thickness of 19 mm (3/4�) may also be used. Doors shall contain soft closing hinge mechanisms. Cabinetry doors shall be secured using push-type locks. No additional locking mechanisms are required to externally secure the doors. Shelves located inside each of the compartments shall be constructed of matching materials. Side Panels. Side panels of each cabinet shall be constructed of wood veneer attached to plywood with a thickness of 19 mm (3/4�). The veneer shall match and be of the same high quality as other veneers used in the construction of the cabinets. Back Panel. The back panel shall be constructed from plywood that is approximately 6.5 mm (1/4�) thick Finishing. Trim. The cabinetry shall be trimmed using decorative hardwood molding. Exposed edges shall also be trimmed with decorative edges. Doors shall be of a single depth (no raised panel or inset doors). Colors and Stain. The table used for the Armistice signing is painted with black lacquer paint. Cabinetry shall be stained using a dark stain such as mahogany or walnut that compliments the dark colors of the Armistice signing table. Red tinted mahogany-colored stains should be avoided. Pre-stained wood veneers may be used as an alternative. If pre-stained wood veneers are used, they must exactly match stains used on hardwood trim pieces. In addition to pre-stained hardwood veneers, the requesting agency may also consider lacquered solid veneers that match the color of the Armistice Table. Lacquered veneers shall be of high quality with at least five layers of lacquer applied. All materials used shall have a satin to medium-gloss finish. Interested vendors shall bring color and finish samples to the site visit and be prepared to discuss the advantages of the materials they are recommending. Vendors should detail the reasons for the recommended color and finish choices included in their submittals. 4.
