Description
SUBJECT Market research is being conducted to identify potential sources that may possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience to meet the requirements for qualification and production of the Digital Interface Assembly (DIA), NSN 5998-01-522-7603, Part Number MT57M1190-3 and Bus Buffer Assembly (BBA), NSN 1095-01-523-5773, Part Number MT57E1212-2 ITEM DESCRIPTION The DIA and BBA are components of the BRU-57/A (BRU- Bomb Release Unit) Smart Bomb Rack used on the F-16 Fighter. The DIA provides the firing pulse to release stores from the BRU-57/A. The BBA divides the 1760 signal from aircraft stores management system to monitor and update loaded weapons for the BRU-57/A. The BRU-57/A DIA and BBA were developed specifically for use on the F-16 C/D aircraft with military unique requirements. The BRU-57/A is a MIL-STD-1760 capable, multiple-carriage, vertical-ejection Bomb Rack. The BRU-57/A provides side-by-side carriage and release of two 14-inch suspension stores. IMPEDIMENT TO COMPETITION: The original equipment manufacturer for this item is L3Harris (CAGE 82340) previously EDO LLC. The Government does not own any data, drawings, schematics, or any other releasable technical data in support of this requirement. As a result, L3Harris is the only known source with adequate knowledge of the BRU-57 performance requirements and possession of the required technical data and capabilities needed to produce these items and ensure compatibility of the equipment. INTEREST The DLA/AWB Contracting Office intends to award a sole source contract to L3 Harris for the manufacture of the BRU-57 in support of the F-16C/D program. Other interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement no later than 13 August 2025 by emailing robert.berg.9@us.af.mil. The Government intends to procure these items using Other Than Full and Open Competition as prescribed by FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements.
