Nguyen, Contract Specialist, 301-496-6546 Description of Acquisition or Award: The National Library of Medicine (NLM) intends to negotiate on a sole-source basis with OCLC/EPSIG under the authority 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1(b)(1) to acquire limited cataloging of Japanese language monographs. The project entails: 1) searching an outside bibliographic source (i.e., the OCLC WorldCAT) for a minimum of 300 titles and a maximum of 500 titles in the Japanese language; 2) preparing original limited cataloging records for those items for which no available cataloging is identified according to NLM procedures for limited cataloging; and 3) providing the original bibliographic records to NLM on tape in USMARC format. The project is envisioned to consist of a one-year base period with options for two successive one-year periods. The period of performance shall begin on or about June 16, 1997.
