- Description
- This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with subparts in the Federal Acquisition Regulation 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotations are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-21. The Government intends to procure 5,000, 24 "X 49" fluid resistant linen bags. The fabric shall be made of 100% continuous polyester/fluid resistant material that complies with all OSHA's occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens and complies with all JCAHO, CDC, and ARA recommendations. The linen bag capacity shall hold up to 35 pounds of soiled linen. The fabric shall be made of 100% continuous filament polyester, which offers the highest fluid resistant properties. The linen bags shall be sewn with no seams on front or back of the bags, and are sewn with waterproof thread, and also with binding that will provide maximum fluid resistance. Technical properties: Spray/100; Weight of Fabric/2.9 ounces; Fiber Content/Polyester; Density/Warp 163; Cuttable/64.5; Filling/94; Tbar Strength/Warp 1000, Filling/1000; Hydrostatics/Durable Water Repellent Calender/77.84; Seam Slippage/35.132, Filling/32.097; Shrinkage Iron/Warp 0.0%, Filling/0.0%; Cured/Warp 1.0%, Filling 0.0%. The linen bags shall be light blue in color, and 24 inches X 49 inches. At the closed-end of linen bag (bottom): one, four and one-half inch loop of grosgrain materiel shall be sewn at the side seam on the outside of the bag, two inches from the bottom of each corner of the linen bag. All loops shall made of grosgrain materiel, shall be white in color, and be one inch in width. The open-end of the linen bag (top): shall have an elastic opening. The elastic material shall allow approximately a twelve-inch opening, but when the elastic is stretched the opening shall be approximately the width of the linen bag. The open-end of the linen bag shall contain a flip-top. The flip-top shall be approximately fifteen inches in length and shall be the width of the linen bag, and made of the same fabric and specifications as noted above. The sides (length wise) of the flip-top shall be sewn to the side seams of the linen bag. The bottom of the flip-top, along the width, shall have sewn to it a one-half inch trim made of white grosgrain materiel. The flip-top will serve as the bag's closure, when pulled over the open-end of the linen bag. On the inside of the flip-top, one, four and one-half inch loop shall be sewn at the side seam on the inside of the bag, three and one-half inches from the top of each corner of the linen bag. There shall be a total of four loops on the linen bag. All four loops shall be exposed when the flip-top is pulled over the open-end of the linen bag. The Contractor warrants that at the time of delivery, the linen bags will be free from defects in material and workmanship. Delivery of the fluid resistant linen bags shall be FOB Destination to the Department of Veterans Affairs, VA San Diego Healthcare System, 3350 La Jolla Village Drive, San Diego, CA 92161. The required date of delivery is March 2, 2001. Offeror shall submit a completed copy of representations and certifications at FAR 52.212-3, Offeror Representations and Certification Commercial Items (Oct 1999).
